Dr. NING Yuese was awarded the Excellent Young Scientists Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China

Dr. NING Yuese joined IPP-CAAS after he got his Ph.D from Hunan Agricultural University in 2011. His research focuses on the interaction between rice and the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae. His work has helped to elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying AvrPiz-t–Piz-t mediated immunity against M. oryzae by characterizing AvrPiz-t interacting proteins in rice, and determine the molecular mechanism of the ubiquitin proteasome pathway-mediated immunity by analyzing ubiquitin E3 ligases and their substrates in disease resistance responses. Until now, he has published 11 articles in high impact journals including Trends in Plant Science, PNAS, Current Biology, The Plant Cell, and PLoS Pathogens as the first, co-first, or corresponding author. He was selected by the “Youth Talent Lifting Program” from the China Association for Science and Technology in 2015, and awarded the honorary title of “Agricultural Science Talent” of CAAS in 2017.
As one of the talent training programs, the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (EYSF) functions as a key link between the Young Scientists Fund and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and plays a key role in nurturing young talents who have great potentials in scientific innovation. The EYSF of 2018 is going to support 400 projects. The duration of each project is a three-year project with a total funding of 1.3 million Yuan RMB. Dr. NING Yuese is one of the three awardees in the field of Plant Protection national wide and one of the two awardees in CAAS this year. Dr. LU Yanhui, Dr. ZHOU Zhongshi, and Dr. LIU Wende from IPP-CAAS were also funded by the EYSF in 2012, 2013, and 2014, respectively.
