On Oct. 23rd, 2018, Dr. Tom Richardson, Chief Executive Officer of AgResearch, New Zealand Academy of Agricultural Sciences, visited the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IPP-CAAS). High officials and relevant scientists from CAAS and IPP-CAAS attended the meeting with Dr. Richardson and the AgResearch delegation.
Dr. GONG Xifeng, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS hosted the meeting and warmly welcomed Dr. Tom Richardson and the delegation. He briefly introduced the visitors about the international cooperation strategies and significant achievements of CAAS. ZHOU Xueping, DG of IPP-CAAS, emphasized that progress has been made since the two parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. He also encouraged the two parties should take advantage of the good opportunities to push the cooperation being more productive. Dr. ZHANG Jie, Deputy Director General of IPP-CAAS introduced the on-going research work, international exchanges and cooperation,and personnel training at IPP-CAAS. Dr. Tom Richardson gave a brief introduction of AgResearch and highlighted the importance of partnerships with IPP-CAAS. Dr. TU Xiongbing gave a presentation on the collaborative research work on biological control of grassland pests and personal exchanges between IPP-CAAS and AgResearch. After the meeting, the delegation visited the State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests.
Dr. CHEN Julian, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Graduate Students, and Dr. GAO Yulin, Director of the Department of Achievement from IPP-CAAS were present at the meeting. Dr. LI Day, Manager of Food Department of AgResearch, Dr. Jolon Dyer, Chief Scientist of Food and Biological Products Science Team, Ms. DI Lu, Coordination Officer of International Affairs, and Mr. Clinton Watson, Counsellor for Science and Technology Innovation of New Zealand in Beijing accompanied Dr. Tom Richardson.
