On July 19, IPP-CAAS and the Institute of Plant Protection, Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IPP-GAAS) signed an agreement on deepening scientific and technological cooperation. In the meantime, the plaque unveiling ceremony for Guizhou Research Center of the State Key Laboratory for Biology in Plant Diseases and Insect Pests (SKLBPI) was held in GAAS. Zhou Xueping, DG of IPP-CAAS and Zhao Degang, President of GAAS, together unveiled the plaque. DG Zhou Xueping and DG HE Yongfu, representing IPP-CAAS and IPP-GAAS, respectively, singed the cooperation agreement.

Li Hongkang, Secretory of the Party Committee of IPP-CAAS, Zheng Yongquan and Zhang Jie, DDGs of IPP-CAAS, Zhao Yang, Deputy Director of Resource Allocation and Management Division, Department of Science and Technology of Guizhou Province, He Qingcai, of GAAS, and CHEN Caijun, Vice President and Secretory of the Party Committee of IPP-GAAS, attended the signing ceremony.

President Zhao Degang warmly welcomed DG Zhou Xueping and the delegation. He expressed sincere acknowledgements for their support to establish Guizhou Re-search Center of SKLBPI. He pointed out that the cooperation between IPP-CAAS and IPP-GAAS will play an important role in the development of 12 advantageous agricultural industries of Guizhou, and the promotion of plant protection disciplines of GAAS. Vice President He Qingcai added that with the help of IPP-CAAS, the plat-form would be well maintained and constructed. He also expressed the hope that, following the principle of complementary advantages and strengthening coopera-tion, the two sides will do a good job in integrating projects and experts, and advanc-ing substantive cooperation in the field of plant protection.
DG Zhou Xueping pointed out that as the national team of agricultural science and technology, IPP-CAAS has been al-ways sticking to the "three aspects" as re-quired by President Xi Jinping for Agriculture Science in China, and with the support from Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects, the construction of two “world-class" on research discipline and institution has made great progress. He said that by establishing the Guizhou Research Center, IPP-CAAS will enhance their support in scientific re-search projects, platform construction and personnel training, etc. The innovation capccity of Guizhou Research Center will also be enhanced with increasing support from the Department of Science and Technology of Guizhou Province and GAAS. On top of the self-construction of IPP-GAAS, IPP-CAAS will help through imple-menting the Open Funding Project, etc.

It is reported that with the adjustment of the agricultural industrial structure in Gui-zhou Province, challenges in the occurrence of diseases and insect pests, such as du-al-purpose crops with special medicine and food, small grains, traditional Chinese medicine plant, quality fruits, special vegetables, etc., the research and development of the mechanism of pathogenicity and green prevention and control technology, the risk assessment of agricultural product quality and safety, and the accurate use technology of safe, efficient and low-risk pesticides are becoming prominent. The establishment of Guizhou Research Center will provide important scientific and technological support for efficient and characteristic agriculture in the health and safety production of agricultural industry of Guizhou Province. The signing of the agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, which is an important at-tempt to promote the overall leap of agricultural science and technology through Academy-Local Institution Cooperation in China.

Yuan Huizhu, Director of Administrative Office of IPP-CAAS, Xia Jinhui, Director of Scientific Research Management Department of GAAS, Pei Xiaohong, Director of Publicity and Education Department of GAAS, and Wu Shiping, DDG of IPP-GAAS were present at the meeting. Totally, more than 40 representatives including admin-istrative staff, research scientists and PhD students of SKLBPI and IPP-GAAS partici-pated in the activity.
