High-level workshop on 20 years of the strategic collaboration between China and CABI, jointly sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation, China MOA, and CABI international and co-sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation, CAAS, MOA-CABI Joint Laboratory for Bio-safety and CABI East Asia, was grandly held in Beijing on 25 November 2015. Dr. Wu Kongming, the Vice President of CAAS, hosted the Workshop. Dr. Qu Dongyu, the Vice Minister of MOA, and Dr. Trevor Nicholls, the CEO of CABI, made opening remarks, respectively. Dr. Zhou Xueping, the Director General of IPP, and Dr. Qiu Dewen, the Deputy Director General of IPP, were present at the Workshop.

Tang Shengyao, the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, MOA, delivered a keynote speech entitledChina's Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation and the Strategic Partnership with CABI. Dr. Nicholls delivered a keynote speech entitled GlobalPartnership on Development Cooperation for Food and Nutrition Security, and Poverty Alleviation. Director General Zhou Xueping made a spotlight presentation entitled MOA-CABI Joint Laboratory: A New Paradigm of International Collaboration in Plant Protection Research and Development. Senior expert Dr. Stefan Toepfer from CABI Europe-Switzerland made a spotlight presentation entitled Sustainable Agricultural Technology Transfer for South-South Cooperation.

The participants took the opportunity of the 20th anniversary for China to have joined CABI, recalled the course of the strategic collaboration between China and CABI in the past 20 years, and summarized the main achievement obtained through bilateral or multilateral cooperation. The participants highly affirmed the cooperation outcomes and the position of MOA-CABI Joint Laboratory in strategic collaboration between China and CABI, shared the successful patterns and experience in China-CABI cooperation and looked ahead the prospects and action plans in future cooperation. The success of the Workshop promoted the China-CABI strategic partnership to a new altitude. The further cooperation in agriculture and environment between the two parties will drive the development of China's agriculture and lay a solid foundation for coping with competition in international science and technology researches. The Workshop also provided an opportunity for IPP to strengthen her position in the areas of plant protection in international cooperation.

Dr. Chen Julian, the Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Graduate, and Drs. Wan Fanghao, Wang Zhenying, Chen Hongyin, Zhang Chaoxian, Xu Xuenong, Li Kebing, etc., attended the Workshop. More than 100 participants from China MOA, National Natural Science Foundation of China, CAAS, CABI, British Embassy in Beijing, the Delegation of the European Union to China, Enthullung der Plakett des Deutsch-Chinesischen Agrarzentrums, CIP-China Center for Asia and the Pacific (CCCAP), Bioversity International East Asia Office, etc., were present at the Workshop.
