A colloquium was held to memorize the 30th anniversary of Chinese Journal of Biological Control (CJBC), together with the Editorial Board meeting, in Changchun City, Jilin Province, on 11 September, 2015. Mr. ZOU Yafei, the Deputy Director of the Department of Scientific Research Management, IPP-CAAS, hosted the meeting. Director General ZHOU Xueping of IPP and Prof. CHEN Wanquan, the President of Chinese Society of Plant Protection (CSPP), made speeches on behalf of the two sponsor institutions to extend the congratulations on the 30th anniversary of CJBC. Profs. Zhou and Chen inspired the Journal to play roles of academic exchange and knowledge spread in the protection of plant and environment and food security. Prof. YANG Huaiwen, the Editor-in-Chief of the 2nd Editorial Board, congratulated the Journal for her found of 30 years and briefly recalled the history of the development. She expressed her gratitude to the sponsors that had been supporting the development of the Journal and the editors. Prof. CAI Wanzhi from China Agricultural University, the Chief Editor of Acta Phytophylacica Sinica attended this meeting and made a speech.

During the meeting, the participants voted 10 'outstanding authors' based on the number and the quality of the articles submitted. 10 'outstanding peer reviewers' were voted also according to the number and quality of articles they reviewed. Director General Zhou, President Chen and the current Editor-in-Chief Zhang Jie awarded the certificates to the representatives of the outstanding authors and outstanding peer reviewers.

In order to improve the quality of the journal, to expand the academic exchange and to speed up the development and the influence of the Journal, the sponsor institutions decided to supplement 10 members of the Editorial Board for CJBC. The members include Prof. Liu Fengquan from the Institute of Plant Protection, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Shi Wangpeng from China Agricultural University, Prof. Fan Dong from Northeast Agricultural University, Prof. Yu Yi from the Institute of Plant Protection, Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Huang Lili from Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry, Prof. Ji Mingshan from Shenyang Agricultural University, Prof. Peng Zhengqiang from the Institute of Environment and Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences, Prof. Wu Haiyan from Guanxi University, Prof. Xiao Yingfang from University of Florida, USA, and Prof. Zhou Zhongshi from the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. President Chen Wanquan, Director General Zhou Wueping, Editor-in-Chief Zhang Jie and Prof. Yang Huaiwen, the Editor-in-Chief of the 2nd Editorial Board issued the agreement of employment to the supplemented member of Editorial Board.

More than 30 people including the leaders of the sponsor institutions, members of Editorial Board, outstanding authors, outstanding peer reviewers and representatives of other journals attended this colloquium. Dr. Zhang Ying, the Director of Editorial Department, retrospected the 30 years of CJBC and reported the recent progress of the Journal. The participants discussed lively the future development of the Journal based on the report. Finally, Editor-in-Chief Zhang, the Deputy Director of IPP, summarized the colloquium. He expressed his gratefulness to the long term support and care from the sponsor institutions, IPP-CAAS and CSPP, and the contributions from members of Editorial Board, the readers, the authors and the reviewers. He hoped that they could always pay attention to and support the development of the Journal. At the same time, he also expressed his hope that CJBC would make persistent efforts and elevate the academic quality and the publication level of the Journal, expand the journal influence and serve the workers in the areas of biological control so that to play more important role in pushing the scientific innovation and development in the researches of biological control.
