2nd Exchange Symposium for Insecticide Development, Extension and Application was held in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province
On 24-25, March,Working Committee of Extension of Plant Protection Products, China Society of Plant Protection (CSPP), IPP-CAAS, and Pesticide Market News medium co-organized the 2nd Exchange Symposium for Insecticide Development, Extension and Application in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. Prof. QIAN Xuhong from East China University of Science and Technology, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, DDG WEI Qiwen of the National Agri-Tech Extension and Service Center, Investigator WANG Jianqiang from the Department of Crop Production, MOA, and Prof. ZHENG Yongquan, the director of Working Committee of Extension of Plant Protection Products, CSPP, and DDG of IPP-CAAS were present at the Symposium and delivered talks. The theme of the Symposium was the Development of Insecticide under the Zero-growth Policy for Pesticides. Prof. YUAN Huizhu, the secretary of Working Committee of Extension of Plant Protection Products chaired the opening ceremony.
DDG ZHENG Yongquan thanked the experts and officials who were present at the Symposium on behalf of organizers of the Symposium and greeted the participants. He said in his address that since the first exchange symposium for insecticides used in rice was held in Changsha, Hunan Province, in 2011, several similar exchange symposia had been held for the development, extension and application of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. Such, it formed series special exchange symposia, with the due authority, for plant protection products. This year, he said, the Working Committee of Extension of Plant Protection Products organized, together with co-organizers, the 2nd Exchange Symposium for Insecticide Development, Extension and Application to continue with the analyzing and probing the current status quo and future trend of insecticides, exchange the experience in insecticide R&D, production, marketing and application, and speed up the extension and application of new products and new techniques. Facing issues in the increasing difficulties in development of novel insecticides, increasing of insect resistance due to unreasonable use of pesticides, the complicated of and changing in the occurrence of crop diseases and insect pests, and profound impact brought about by zero-growth policy for pesticides, the organization of this Symposium provided a good platform for colleagues in the industry to communicate.
Academician QIAN Xuhong was invited to make a presentation entitled Experience in the Creation and Development of Insecticides with Novel Mode of Action. In his presentation, Academician QIAN introduced the most recent progress in the basic theories of green chemical pesticides and R&D of novel compounds. Prof. LEI Zhongren from IPP-CAAS made a presentation entitled the Occurrence of Insect Pests in Vegetables, the Difficulties in Control and the Current Status in the Use of Insecticides and the Trend. Prof. LEI introduced the most recent progress, made at IPP, in the control of insect pests in vegetables and application of insecticides. The invited speakers include Associate Chief Agronomists ZHANG Wenjun and JIANG Hui, and Director LIU Shaoren, from the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals,MOA, Senior Agronomist LI Yongping and Prof. SHU Fang from the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center, Profs. GAO Xiwu, QIN Zhaohai and WU Xuemin from China Agricultural University, Prof. FU Qiang from China National Rice Research Institute, Prof. QIU Guisheng from the Institute of Pomology, CAAS, Prof. SHI Jie from the Institute of Plant Protection, Hebei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Prof. WU Yuqing from the Institute of Plant Protection, Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The presentations included the Global Market and the Status Quo of Import and Export of Insecticides and the Trend, New Policy of Pesticide Regulation, the Impact of Insecticides on the Environment and the Assessment and Issues that Needed Attention when an Enterprise Register a Pesticides, New Characteristics of Occurrence of Insect Pests in Main Crops in China and the Rule of Evolvement, the Current Status of Pesticide Application and the Trend, the Impact of Pesticide Zero-growth Policy on Insecticide Market and the Current Status of Alternative Application and the Trend, the Development of Insect Resistance to Insecticides in Main Crops and the Countermeasures, Recent Progress in and Trend of Insecticide R&D in China and Abroad, the Development and Extension of New Formulations and New Areas of Application for Insecticides, the Occurrence of Rice Insect Pests, the Difficulties in the Control, the Current Status of Application of Insecticides and the Trend, the Occurrence of Fruit Tree Insect Pests, the Difficulties in the Control, the Current Status of Insecticides Application and the Trend, the Occurrence of Maize Insect Pests, the Difficulties in the Control, the Current Status of Insecticides Application and the Trend, and the Occurrence of Wheat Insect Pests, the Difficulties in the Control, the Current Status of Application of Insecticides and the Trend. The participants were happy about the presentations because the contents of the presentations were practical with good authority.
The Symposium was supported by the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals,MOA, the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center, and China Crop Protection Industry Association, and attracted over 300 participants from domestic and international research institutions, producers of insecticides, and plant protection services, distributors and farmers.
