IPP and SBC expand comprehensive collaboration in science and technolog
Director General Zhou Xueping and others visited Syngenta Biotechnology (China) Co. Ltd. (SBC), based in Beijing Life Science Park, on invitation and signed a new memorandum with Mr. David O'reilly, the President of SBC, in the afternoon on May 8, 2014.
It is learnt that IPP has good collaboration with SBC. Within the framework of collaboration memorandum signed in 2011, both parties carried out various collaborations in the research and development of technologies for insect pests control. SBC provided Syngenta Friendship Laboratory Studentship to postgraduate students in IPP. Three students obtained the Studentship in 2013. To consolidate the existing collaboration and to extend new collaboration scopes, Dr. Zhou, the Director General of IPP, presented the exchange, at Mr. O'Reilly's invitation, between IPP and SBC based on previous communication. Dr. Zhou briefed the basic situation of IPP and the strategy of development. Mr. O'Reilly introduced the developing strategy of SBC and looked back the collaboration with IPP. The experts from both parties presented the willingness of promoting collaboration with mutual benefits through complementary advantages. The control of important diseases, biological control, insect pests control and agro-chemicals will be taken into mutually interested collaboration fields. Dr. Zhou and Mr. O'Reilly signed a new collaboration memorandum in a friendly and warm atmosphere of collaboration in the end.
This visit is important to strengthen the substantial scientific collaboration between IPP and SBC. The member of the delegate included Dr. Qiu Dewen, the Deputy Director General, Dr. Chen Julian, Director of Department of International Cooperation and Administration of Graduates, Drs. Zhang Jie and Wang Guirong, the Director and Deputy Director of Department of Biotechnology in Plant Protection and Dr. He Kanglai from Department of Agricultural Insect.
