The annual meeting for summing up of a program under the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest, IPM Technology Research and Demonstration for Cereal Powdery Mildews and Scabs (201303016) was held in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, on 15-16 January, 2016. Mr. WANG Jianqiang, the Deputy Director of the Division of Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine, the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture, and Mr. WEN Xue, the Deputy Director General of the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, were present at the meeting and made speeches.

Mr. Wang Jianqiang pointed out that the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest requires to solve the key issues presented in agricultural production. Hence, the researches involved in the Program need to be guided by the production issues and to take into account of practical and light and simple techniques in research. He asked to reinforce the integration and demonstration of key technologies in the last two years of the Program. Mr. Wang briefed also the current situation in reform of scientific research systems and the programs on reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Mr. Wen affirmed first the progress achieved since the implementation of the Program. He asked the scientists to sum up seriously the outcomes obtained and to prepare for the remaining work. Mr. Wen underlined that the expenditure of the program fund should be rational and need to spend the money according to the related rules. Scientists from 14 institutions that take part in the Program reported their research progress gained in 2015. The Program consultant Prof. XIAO Yueyan made comments on the work finished and hoped that the scientists to amend their research content based on the new issues and new demands occurred in production. Dr. ZHOU Yilin, the chief scientist of the Program scheduled and arranged the research work for 2016 and asked the colleagues to focus on the emphases of the research in the remaining two years.

IPP organized this meeting. More than 40 participants from Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang University, Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, NorthwestAgriculture & Forestry University, Shenyang Agricultural University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Anhui Agricultural University, Hebei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and IPP were present.
