2015 annual meeting for summing up of IPM Technical Solutions for Crop Cyst Nematodes, a program of the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest was held in Changsha, Hunan
Recently, the annual meeting for summing up of a program of the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest, IPM Technical Solutions for Crop Cyst Nematodes was held in Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province. Dr. Zheng Yongquan, the Deputy Director General of IPP, was present at the meeting and made a speech. Deputy Director Zou Yafei from the leading institution of the program, IPP, hosted the meeting.
Dr. Zheng directed the development of researches on crop cyst nematodes. He asked to do more solid work so as to agree with the requests, from the Government, of reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Mr. Wei Kai, the Deputy Director from the Department of Science, Technology and Education of MOA affirmed the importance and the progress of the program. He proposed good suggestions on the implementation of the program and made requests on the proper use of fund according to the accounting regulations. Mr. Wang Jianqiang, the Deputy Director of the Division of Plant Protection and Quarantine, the Department of Crop Production, MOA, affirmed the outcomes obtained within the year since the program had been conducted and proposed suggestions to later work: 1) Pay attention to the team building to push the development of nematode research work; 2) Pay attention to the researches on the rules of cyst nematodes occurrence; 3) Pay attention to the technology integration so that to develop simple practical techniques; 4) Pay attention to extension and application to promote the implementation of reductions to pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Dr. Peng Deliang, the chief scientist of the program reported the obtained achievements since the implementation of the program on crop cyst nematodes and summarized the new features of the occurrence, new control techniques, and existing new issues of cyst nematodes in sugar beet, upland rice, wheat, soybean, etc. Scientists from 15 institutions that have been involved in the program summed up seriously their work carried out in the year. The participant scientists proposed work focuses in 2016 and detailed planning on the construction of demonstration areas.
IPP organized this annual meeting and Hunan Agricultural University hosted it. More than 60 scientists who attended the meeting came from the program involving institutions including China Agricultural University, Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, Shenyang Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, etc.
