IPP held an on-site meeting for citrus huanglongbing management technology
Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, held an on-site meeting for management technology of citrus huanglongbing in Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, on 27-28 October. The participants visited the demonstration site of citrus huanglongbing integrated management technology at a navel orange base at Xiajiang Village, Xianglinpu Town, Daoxian County, Yongzhou City, and a tangerine base at the 4th Section of Yongzhou Citrus Demonstration Farm, and exchanged and discussed issues in the management technology of citrus huanglongbin. Director General ZHOU Xueping and DDG QIU Dewen, IPP-CAAS, Deputy Secretary ZHANG Yan of Yongzhou City Party Committee, LI Junxiang, deputy director of City People's Congress, FENG Jinxiang, vice chairman of Municipal CPPCC and WU Xiaolin, vice president of Hunan Institute of Technology were present at the on-site meeting.
It was learnt that citrus huanglongbing is a crucial issue restricted seriously the citrus production in China. Program Huanglongbing Control and the Cooperative Technical Innovation is one of the leading cooperative programs between Yongzhou City and CAAS. After years of research, IPP developed integrated measures to control huanglongbing, which included induced plant resistance with plant immune inducer combined with soil amelioration, increase of organic manure, rapid detection of pathogens, etc. The established huanglongbing management system attained good effects. The management system can control effectively the development and spread of citrus huanglongbing and has shown non-toxic to citrus product and non-residue to environment. The application of the technical system promoted obviously the yield and the quality of citrus.
ZHOU Xueping affirmed fully the achievement of the demonstration and trials of citrus huanglongbing management technology. The trials and demonstration achieved initial success in Yongzhou this year and the control of citrus huanglongbing played the role of enhancing confidence, ZHOU said. ZHOU emphasized that the management of citrus huanglongbing was a long process and a challenge. The establishment of innovation alliances for control science and technology needed to be strengthened and input increased. It was needed, ZHOU said, to research deeper in the management techniques for citrus huanglongbing, to speed up the demonstration and extension of the applied techniques, and to protect the benefits of citrus growers so as to facilitate the sustainable and healthy development of citrus industry and to create even greater economic, social and ecological benefit.
QIU Dewen introduced the management technology system for citrus huanglongbing and the demonstration trials in Yongzhou this year.
During the meeting, the opening ceremony for Joint Laboratory of Citrus Huanglongbing Rapid Diagnosis was held at Hunan Institute of Technology. The Lab was established jointly by IPP and Hunan Institute of Technology.
More than 40 participants, including officials and experts, were present at the meeting. They came from IPP of Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hunan Agricultural University, Hunan Provincial Station of Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine, Hunan Institute of Technology, Qiyang National Field Station for Farmland Eco-system of CAAS, Communist Party Yongzhou City Committee, Yongzhou City People's Congress, Yongzhou Municipal CPPCC, Yongzhou City Agricultural Commission, Yongzhou Institute for Agricultural Science Research, Yongzhou Institute for Citrus Research, and Beijng Zhongbao Lunong (Pesticide) Group Co.
