Director Anas Ahmed Fadlelmula Eltayeb of Sudan Agricultural Research Corporation, ARC, visited IPP, on 26-28 October, on the invitation of the Department of International Cooperation and Graduate Student. Deputy Directors General Qiu Dewen and Zheng Yongquan met with him.

Qiu extended a warm welcome to Director Eltayeb and briefed the general information in scientific research, talent education and international cooperation at IPP. Zheng looked back the cooperation in pesticide sciences after the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between IPP and the Institute of Crop Protection of ARC in 2013.Eltayeb introduced the general situation of ARC and expressed his intent to broaden the areas and scope of cooperation. He hoped to have further cooperation and exchange in the researches, the exchange visits and education of graduates in the areas of plant protection. He would like to sign further cooperation agreement in wider areas and larger scope between ARC and IPP based on the memorandum signed in 2013.

During the visit, DirectorEltayeb exchanged with scientists in Departments of Pesticide Sciences, Biological Invasions, Biological Control and Plant Biotechnologyin Plant Protection and had in-depth discussion in residue and assessment of pesticides, warning and control of invasive alien species, biological control and biotechnology used in plant protection. Eltayeb and scientists in IPP reached consensus on future cooperation in the areas of plant protection. Director Eltayeb also visited the State Key Laboratory for Biology of Plant Diseases and Insect Pests (SKLBPI)accompanied by Dr. Wang Lixia, the Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Graduate Student.

Director Eltayeb's visit deepened his understanding to researches carried out at IPP and laid foundation for broadening mutual exchange and cooperation. The visit is important to promote the 'walk out' of Chinese agricultural science and technology and to better accomplish the development strategy of 'the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road (the Belt and Road)'. Dr. Wang Zhenying, the Director of the Department of Agricultural Insects, Dr. Li Shifang, the Deputy Director of the Department of Plant Diseases, Dr. Dong Fengshou, the Deputy Director of the Department of Pesticide Sciences, Dr. Liu Wanxue, the Deputy Director of the Department of Biological Invasions and Dr. Wang Lixia, the Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation and Graduate Student attended the meeting.
