Training course on the control technology of grassland pests was held in Beihai, Guangxi
The Professional Committee of Grassland Plant Protection, Chinese Grassland Society, organized the National Training Course on the Control Technology of Grassland Pests in Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on 24-26 February, 2016. The Institute of Plant Protection (IPP), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), hosted the course. Mr. YUN Xujiang, the Deputy Director of National Animal Husbandry Service (NAHS), and Mr. ZHANG Bujiang, the Deputy Director of IPP were present at the course and made speeches. Prof. ZHANG Zehua, the chief scientist of Grassland Pests Monitoring and Control Group, IPP-CAAS, organized and opened the course.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. ZHANG Bujiang said that the course focused on the green protection of ecological environment and pointed out that the protection of grassland and the maintenance of the balance of eco-system were significant and arduous tasks. We need to enhance our capabilities to tackle the issues faced and to strengthen the talent teams. He hoped to hand over the results of researches in grassland protection, novel techniques and new products to extension institutions so that the control technologies in the frontier of production can be promoted. Mr. Yun introduced the achievements obtained during the twelfth Five-Year Plan and the new concept for thirteenth Five-Year Plan, i.e., ecology first and green development.
Mr. HONG Jun, the Deputy Director of Prataculture Division, NAHS, Prof. ZHAO Li, Xinjiang Agricultural University, Prof. LI Chunjie, Lanzhou University, Prof. WEI Yahui, Northwest University, Dr. WAN Xinrong, the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Profs. LIU Xiaohui and NONG Xiangqun, IPP-CAAS, Profs. ZHANG Zhuoran, Inner Mongolia Grassland Working Station, and Prof. NI Yifei from Xinjiang Headquarters for Control of Locusts and Rodents reported their researches and applications on monitoring and forecasting of grassland pests and the control technologies.
180 participants from 9 grassland stations in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, universities, research institutions and industries attended the training course.
