2015 annual meeting for summing up of the Technology Research on the Control of Weeds in Crop Fields and the Demonstration, a program under the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest was held in Beijing
The 2015 annual meeting for summing up of the Technology Research on the Control of Weeds in crop Fields and the Demonstration was held in Beijing on 4-5 April, 2016. The Program is presided by IPP and supported by the Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest. The work to be implemented in 2016 was also fixed up during this meeting. Deputy Director General ZHENG Yongquan, Director ZHANG Weiping, the Department of Financial Management, and Deputy Director ZOU Yafei, the Department of Scientific Research Management of IPP were present at the meeting and made speeches.
Deputy Director ZOU opened the meeting. Dr. ZHANG Chaoxian, the Chief Scientist of the Program appreciated, on behalf of the Program, the supports from IPP and leaders from other institutions. He hoped that the member institutions and scientists should check the respective work according to the terms of references (TORs) so as to complete the aims of the Program. DDG ZHENG pointed out, from the viewpoint of the trend of weed sciences, that the weed science was facing both opportunities and challenges. The weed scientists should aim at new technologies. He hoped that the scientists should summarize the major progress based on the previous work and discuss the focuses to develop in future in weed sciences in order to be prepared for new programs at the next stage.
Deputy Director ZOU summarized the experience from other programs under the Special Fund. He, from the point of research management, asked to complete the work of the Program according to the TORs. He hoped the scientists to review respective work and to mend the lacked or missed work so as to lay a good foundation for further work.
Director ZHANG Weiping was invited to spoke on how to spend the fundaccording to budgetary items from the point of financial management and explained in details. He emphasized the normalized disbursement. He answered also the questions, which the participant institutions met, based on the relevant policies and his experience.
The Program Consultants listened seriously the reports from the member institutions of the Program and made comments one after another to every institution. They affirmed the results obtained by the member scientists and raised pertinent suggestions. The Program Consultants agreed that the overall work progress was good and 2016 was a critical time node for the integration and demonstration of the prevention and control technologies used on major crop field weeds. The member institutions should make up for each other's deficiencies and learn from each other, reinforce collaboration and communication and accomplish the researches on the prevention and control technologies fitted on crop field weeds and the demonstration in different regions in China. Dr. ZHANG Chaoxian put forward requests on the management of the Program and the fund. He arranged the follow-up research and asked to pay more attention to the innovation of non-chemical control technology. All of the participants of the meeting discussed common concerned issues.
More than 30 scientists including the Program Consultants and core members of the member institutions of the Program were present at the meeting.
