Xinjiang Korla Field Experimental Station for Pest Monitoring and Control, CAAS
Xinjiang Korla Field Experimental Station for Pest Monitoring and Control was established in 2012 and locates at Kule Village, Shilike Town, Korla City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Station is seated right in the middle of Eurasia and Xinjiang and the northeastern border of Tarim Basin. Kulu Hill and Hora Hill, the branch ranges of Mount Tianshan, is to the north of the County and Taklimakan Desert, the world’s 2nd largest mobile desert, is to the south of the County. The landscape of the County belongs to the ancient oasis irrigated by river water. The climate is warm temperate continental drought climate. The resources of water, land, light and heat is abundant and, therefore, the place is suitable for growing of cotton and fruit trees. The main areas for the Station include the occurrence of pests of cotton and fruit trees, the R&D of monitoring and IPM techniques and products and their integration and demonstration. Currently, several Science and Technology Support Programs are implemented here.
