Mid-term exchange for a major NFSC project the Molecular mechanisms of crop geminivirus pathogenicity was held
The mid-term exchange for a major NFSC (National Natural Science Foundation of China) project the Molecular mechanisms of crop geminivirus pathogenicity was held at the Langfang Station for Scientific Monitoring and Experiment on Crop Pests, IPP-CAAS, on 23-24 June, 2016. Mr. Shengming DU, the Director General of the Department of Life Sciences, NFSC, Mr. Jing LUO, the Director of the 7th Division, the Department of Life Sciences, NFSC, Mr. Xinqiu TAN, the Director of Projects, Mr. Jianzhong LU, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Research Management, CAAS, and Dr. Yongquan ZHENG, the Deputy General of IPP-CAAS, were present at the meeting. More than 30 people including the consultants for the mid-term exchange and the major members of this Project attended the meeting. Mr. LUO opened the meeting.
Deputy Director General LU addressed at the meeting on behalf of CAAS, the project supporting institution. He pointed out that the implementation of the Project effectively boosted the research innovation in CAAS and he showed at the same time that CAAS would do her best to assist NFSC to manage the project.
Director General DU indicated that the Department of Life Sciences changed the mid-term checking of major NFSC projects to mid-term exchange of the academic progress achieved in major projects. This was to enhance exchange and, based on exchange, to check the results obtained during the implementation of the projects. He hoped the teams involved in the major project to learn from each other while exchange and to accomplish the mission.
Academician Rongxiang FANG, the head of the project consultants for the mid-term exchange, hosted the exchange. Prof. Xueping ZHOU, the principal of the Project, and Profs. Shusheng LIU, Xueping ZHOU and Qi XIE, the heads of the subjects, reported on the progress, the achievements, and the expenditure of the funds. The consultant group made directive suggestions to the implementation of the Project and made comments and scored the progress. The consultant group recognized that the participants of the Project well implemented the terms of reference and affirmed the progress achieved. The consultants hoped to see further collaboration between the subjects. The scientists in the Project should compact further major scientific questions, define the priority, and make significant breakthrough.
The officials and the scientists who attended the exchange visited the Langfang Station for Scientific Monitoring and Experiment on Crop Pests after the meeting.
