蔺瑞明,1972年出生于内蒙古包头市。1993年获得沈阳农业大学植物保护专业学士学位,1999年获得沈阳农业大学植物病理学专业硕士学位,2005年获得中国农业大学分子植物病理学专业博士学位。1993年至2001年在辽宁省农业科学院作物研究所从事大豆抗孢囊线虫病育种研究;2005年至今在中国农业科学院植物保护研究所植物病害研究室工作,从事麦类作物抗条锈病、蠕孢叶斑病等真菌病害的分子遗传与中间新抗源材料创制,麦类作物病重要原真菌致病力变异和适应逆境胁迫的应答机制。2006年和2011-2012年分别在西澳大利亚大学、西澳大利亚州农业部CLIMA中心和美国俄亥俄州立大学植物病理学系作访问学者。目前担任中国植物保护学会植物抗病虫专业委员会秘书长。
蔺瑞明长期从事麦类作物真菌病害研究,主持2项国家自然科学基金项目和1项现代农业产业技术体系项目,参加国家自然科学基金国际合作项目、国家重点基础研究发展计划、国家高技术研究发展计划、农业公益性行业科研专项等项目。从我国小麦地方品种资源筛选获得一批成株抗条锈病材料,并对 YrBm 等主效成株抗条锈病基因进行标记定位和转育利用;承担国家现代农业大麦青稞产业技术体系的病害防控岗位,系统调查了大麦青稞主要病害发生和危害情况,鉴定并研究新病害侵染规律;组建麦根腐平脐蠕孢菌( Bipolaris sorokiniana )、白粉菌( Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei , Bgh )、条锈菌( Puccinia striiformis f. sp. hordei , Psh )和云纹病原菌‒普通喙孢霉( Rhynchosporium commune )等大麦青稞重要病原真菌的鉴别品种,监测和分析其致病力变异;同时积极开展和推动大麦青稞抗病基因筛选及其在抗病育种中的应用。在Frontiers in Plant Science、Molecular Breeding、Plant Disease和Theoretical and Applied Genetics等SCI期刊发表科研论文10余篇,在中文核心期发表论文20余篇,出版译著1部;获得农业部和中国农学学会颁发的“中华农业科技奖”一等奖1项。
