Research Area:

Being working on the research of invasion ecology and biological control of agricultural alien pests for more than 20 years, he has got experiences on a broad way to understand better prevention and management of invasive insects and weeds, especially in agriculture and natural habitat ecosystems. As the Executive Director of Center for Management of Invasive Alien Species, and the Director of Key-laboratory of Biological Control, Ministry of Agriculture, and also as a National Leading Scientist of 973 Program, he has organized harmonizing national teams to focus our research on the understanding of invasive mechanisms, and the development of management technologies for risk assessment, early-warning system, rapid detection, field surveillance, biological control and eco-restoration of agricultural and forest invaders. In my department, he has organized different groups to work on IAS database, invasion biology and ecology of invasive insects (whitefly, western flower thrips and leaf miners), allelopathy of invasive weed (such as crofton weed, ragweed), and traditional biocontrol (alligator-weed, ragweed, whitefly, leaf miner).
