Department of Weed Science, Rodent Biology and Rangeland Protection
Overview 20 staffs comprise the main body of the research in the Department. They are 5 professors, 8 associate professors and 2 research assistants, 3 technicians and 2 post doctors. Five PhD students and more than 20 graduate students studying for their master’s degrees are in the Department. There are three research groups in the Department including Weed Control Group, Rodent Biology and Management Groupand Group of Locust and Grasshoppers Management. The groups belong to the Innovation Team of Weed Detection and Prevention and the Innovation Team of Pests Monitoring and Management in Rangeland of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Innovation Engineering.
Program Several programs are under complementation including programs from Special Fund for Agro-Scientific Research in the Public Interest, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Fund for Achievement Transformation of Agriculture Science Technology, etc.
Achievements More than 400 original research papers have been published by the staffs in which there are more than 40 papers that were published in SCI indexed journals. The staffs also finished six national/industrial standards and registrations for three new bio-pesticide formulations. 30 authorizations of invention patents and 13 provincial and ministerial-level awards have been achieved.
Foreign Exchange A letter of intention has been signedfor cooperation in the research and application of monitoring and controlling technology of grassland rodent, weed and insect pests between the Institute of Plant Protection, CAAS, and the Institute of Plant Protection, Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Hosted the 18th Conference of the Asia-Pacific Weed Science and the 12th International Congress of Weed Science and assisted FAO to hold a conference on weed sciences.
